***NEW – U10 EVALUATION PROGRAM***

In an effort to better balance our rec teams, we are beginning an evaluation program this year starting with our U10 age group.  We will have two sessions prior to the start of the season, the first on August 16th from 6 to 8 pm, and the second on August 17th from 9 to 11 am.  We will have coaches on hand to evaluate players and, and they will give us feedback as we form our teams.  Please make every effort to have your U10 player attend at least one of these sessions as we feel this will be an invaluable tool in making our rec program the best it can be.

RYSA Refund Policy

Full refunds will be considered for the recreation program if request is received by August 9,2013.  Refund requests received after August 9, 2013 will be considered by the RYSA Board of Directors, but are not guaranteed, and if approved will be subject to an administrative fee.  No refunds will be considered once the season begins.

OUR MISSION

The objective of the programs at RYSA shall be to implant firmly in the youth of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, and reverence so that they may be finer, stronger, and healthier youths and will grow into good, clean, and healthy adults.

The objective shall be achieved by providing supervised competitive soccer matches subject to the rules of the US Soccer (USSF), United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA), the Georgia State Soccer Association (GSSA), and the Georgia Youth Soccer Association (GYSA). It is one of the foremost objectives that the attainment of exceptional athletic skill or winning the match is secondary and the molding of future adults is the true purpose of the program.

COACHING AT RYSA

RYSA is a non-profit organization which relies heavily on the dedication and hard work of it’s members (you, the parents) volunteering time to help out, whether it be in the concession stand or just simply throwing away an empty Coke bottle you may find on the ground.  All of our recreation coaches are volunteers, and that is one area we are always in need of assistance in.  If you would be interested in coaching a team, RYSA will be offering the G & F Coaching Courses free of charge.  The G course is 4 hours long and provides fun activities that enhance players' skill development. If you are coaching U6 and U8, you must start at the G course. Previous playing or coaching experience cannot be used to waive the G if you are coaching U6 or U8 The ’F’ course is tailored for the coach who is working with U10 and U12 recreational players.  The emphasis is on teaching young players through fun games. The course consists of 7 hrs of instruction and practice.  Please see the RYSA website for more information and course dates or CLICK HERE.  Another benefit of taking the coaching course and subsequently coaching a team for a season is you will receive $20.00 off your next season’s registration fee, one discount per team coached.  Along with the coaching course offered, assistance is always available through our Directors and staff coaches for any questions you may have.  If you would like to coach your child’s team, when registering your child, please click on the volunteer tab and register for either head coach or assistant coach.

 RYSA FUNDRAISING

RYSA’s main fundraiser every season is our Coke fundraiser.  Look for forms to be available sometime in March so you can get a head start on your sales.  We are also looking into other fundraising opportunities for the upcoming season, such as pre-selling car washes at The Car Wash located right down the street from RYSA.  Look for more information to come out soon on new fundraising opportunities.

Recreation Soccer General Information
The recreational program is considered a learning program. The philosophy is for players to develop a love for the game of soccer while learning new skills and having fun with new friends.
The recreational program is for all players, whether new or experienced, from ages 4 - 18.
Registration for the recreational level is open to all boys and girls to play. No tryouts are held in recreational soccer. The recreational teams are coached by volunteers, usually a parent of one of the team players.

Team Formation
The teams are formed by a computer generated blind draft based on the number of seasons played. All Under 10 and above teams will stay together for the Fall and Spring season, and in the Spring season, new players will be added to teams to fill in for players who do not return from the Fall. Under 6 and Under 8 teams are redrafted each season.

Seasons
There are two seasons for recreation outdoor soccer a year, the Fall season which typically starts games the weekend after Labor Day and the Spring season which usually starts games the first weekend of March.  Each season has approximately 9 - 10 games.
U12 and above teams may be required to travel outside of RYSA to play games. If there are not enough RYSA teams in a season, the RYSA teams will be interleague scheduled to play against other neighboring Ga Soccer Clubs which would require the teams to travel for half of their games and the other half of their games would be played at RYSA.
We also offer Summer & Winter Indoor Recreation Soccer. Please check the Indoor Section for more information.

Practices
Practices usually start two weeks before the first game. Most games are scheduled on Saturdays starting as early as 8am and the last games typically will not start after 5pm on Saturday. There may be a few games on Friday evenings starting after 6pm and there could be a Sunday afternoon game or 2 during the season, with all Sunday games starting after 1pm.
Under 6 and under 8 teams practice once a week, Under 10 and older teams may practice twice a week. Recreation players should be ready to commit to attending the practice sessions during the week and also the games on the weekends for the entire season.
